Fun in Nashville

Chad and I aren’t big travelers, but we really like to take day or weekend trips.  A few weeks ago, we took a Saturday trip to Nashville, Tennessee, which is one of my all-time favorite places to go.  We have been many times and there are still so many things I want to do and restaurants to try.  It is a great short getaway.  My main goal this time was to go to Opry Mills to shop and to try a local burger place called The Pharmacy that has been rated the “Best Burger in Nashville”.  With a title like that we knew we had to give it a shot.

This is just a small neighborhood eatery that draws a huge crowd.  We got there 30 minutes after they opened and the place was packed.  The wait was well worth it because the burgers were delicious, and they serve TATER TOTS!!!!  I don’t I have ever professed my love for tater tots on here, but it is huge and these were ah-mazing!!

If you are in Nashville, go to The Pharmacy.  Run, don’t walk!

Next, we (ok, I) decided to find the Antique Archaeology store in Nashville.  I don’t know if you are familiar with a little show on the History Channel called American Pickers or not, but this is one of two stores that sells some of the stuff you see on TV.  Well, they sell it if you can afford it.  Can we say sticker shock?  Chad and I both got a t-shirt because that was pretty much all we could afford.  It was really neat to see the store.  It is in the old Marathon Auto Factory building with a few other shops.  Funny story…we drove down the street past the store and parked.  There was this really long line and I thought there must be a restaurant there since all these people were waiting to get in.  Nope, it was right where we were heading.  Here is a photo of the line in front of us when we got there:

Now, here is a photo of the line behind us when we finally got to the door:

In talking to a few people around us, we found out the some of them were from pretty far away.  One gentleman and his wife were travelling from Chicago to the Florida Keys and made a weekend stop in Nashville.  It was so fun! Guess who also was there? Mike Wolfe from the show! Come to find out, he and his wife own a house in a nearby town and he is responsible for re-doing this old building and the one across the street as well.  It was so cool!  Enjoy a few more photos from that day:

I cannot recommend Nashville enough for a getaway.  There is something for everybody!
